There is a legend cited by the newspaper "Kommersant" that airsoft was born in Japan when, after the Second World War, the Japanese lost not only the army, but also the right to own automatic weapons. It was necessary to comply with the terms of surrender, but in order to work out the tactics of the self-defense forces, the Japanese invented a toy "weapon" that "shot" plastic balls. Instead of a powder charge, compressed gas was used, which has an order of magnitude less energy, which allowed tactical training to be conducted without the risk of the students dying.
